There is Still Time to Purchase Your Tickets to Ayuda's 39th Annual Awards Reception!

This exciting celebration will include a live Brazilan Jazz performance by Emy Tseng http://www.emytseng.com/, hors d'ouvres, and beverages and a short awards presentation. Ayuda will present three awards to the following indivuals who have contributed to our successes this year.

Ayuda will be presenting the Hugh Johnson Award to Ofelia Calderón. This award is named after former Ayuda Board Member, Hugh Johnson, who passed away tragically in August 1989 in a plane crash while en route to an Ethiopian refugee camp. At the time, Mr. Johnson was accompanying Texas Congressman Mickey Leland on a relief mission formed by the U.S. House Select Committee on Hunger. This award is presented annually to a person who has made exemplary pro bono and/or volunteer service contributions to Ayuda.

The Friends of Ayuda Award will be presented to Verizon. This Award is given to a person or organization who has contributed to Ayuda through finacial or in-kind services, or has  otherwise been demonstrably supportive of Ayuda’s mission and goals. These recipients often donate vital and continued support to Ayuda.

Lastly, Ayuda will be recognizing Jean Bruggeman with the Milagro Beanfield Award. Named after the movie “The Milagro Beanfield War,” this award is presented to Ayuda staff members or clients who have substantially contributed to our mission or whose work complements or perpetuates Ayuda’s goals. Awardees are recognized for having a multiplying impact, with contributions that lead to extraordinary results in the midst of challenging circumstances.
